The Lynx GM6 operates semi-automatically by long barrel recoil. This means that each time the shots are fired, the barrel and the breech recoil together inside the case of the weapon. At the end of its stroke, the barrel is returned to the front while the released breech remains to the rear in order to extract the empty casing. Its purpose is to stop or disable targets such as light armored vehicles, light shelters and helicopters from 650–800 meters range. Due to its weight and portability, it is good for parachute, airmobile and territorial troops. The barrel recoil technology brings the recoil of the GM6 below the recoil of other rifles in the same category. The weapon is highly accurate and effective up to a range of 1500 meters.
The weapon uses impressive 5-round magazines guided in their well by a rail integrated into the handle.
